Extensis Corporation develops, publishes, markets and supports productivity software for creative professionals. From design through output, Extensis products make the process of creating, editing, assembling and managing digital content for print and electronic publishing more productive and efficient.
Extensis was co-founded by Craig Barnes and Randy Hill in 1993. Together they have assembled an experienced management team with firsthand knowledge in the creative market; the team includes executives and key employees from Adobe Systems, Apple Computer, Central Point Software, Claris Corporation, Farallon Computing, In Focus, MetaCreations, Quark, Symantec and others.
Because Extensis focuses on the needs of the graphics community, our applications span competitive applications and platforms, such as Photoshop, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Photo-Paint and Illustrator. This focus leaves us uniquely positioned to leverage today's cutting edge publishing technologies while integrating productivity throughout the creative workflow. In addition, Extensis is constantly expanding its product line to fully serve its customers by developing, publishing and acquiring key technologies.
The Extensis line up of Photoshop and QuarkXPress design tools enable the creative workgroup to do more in less time using the same software they use everyday. By integrating industry standard user interfaces and working directly in the parent application, our products work the way designers expect. The net result is that our products for Photoshop and Quark allow creatives to execute their ideas faster, without creative compromise.
In 1997, Extensis expanded its product line to include a suite of production tools aimed at the needs of creative workgroups, rather than just individual designers. Preflight Pro allows for the batch processing of prepress files in a fully automated workflow and provides full support for cutting-edge PDF workflows. Furthermore, with the flexible asset management capabilities of Portfolio, workgroups can automatically integrate complex workflows via scripting technology, such as AppleScript and VB Script. This capability also allows the creative workflow to integrate with other corporate workflows and knowledge databases.
Extensis software is distributed by a comprehensive network of global resellers. In North America, products are sold through combination of direct corporate sales and distribution partners including Ingram Micro and Merisel, catalog resellers including MicroWarehouse, PC Connection, Creative Computers and Multiple Zones and authorized value-added resellers. Extensis products are available worldwide through major distributors in Europe, the Middle East, Australia and the Pacific Rim.
